Technical Data of REBO Magnesia Chrome Brick
The key indicators are MgO and Cr₂O₃ content, which define the brick’s composition, together with bulk density, apparent porosity, cold crushing strength and refractoriness under load, which reflect structure and performance at high temperature. The values shown are typical, and actual results may vary slightly by batch. Customized grades of magnesite refractory bricks are available on REBO Refractory. Besides, our factory provides test report with each bacth of shipment. Here are detailed technical parameters of REBO magnesium chromium brick:

Grades of Magnesia Chrome Brick – Different Bonding Types
Magnesia chrome bricks are classified by how their grains are bonded together, which depends on the raw materials and the firing process. The bond type has a direct effect on performance, mainly the balance between resistance to thermal shock and resistance to slag attack. This section introduces five common types: silicate-bonded, direct-bonded, rebonded, semi-rebonded and chemically bonded bricks. For each one, we describe the main raw materials, sintering method, key advantages and typical use, to help you choose the right type for your furnace conditions. Sintered Magnesia Chrome Brick
Main Materials: 89%-92% MgO, Chromite;
Process: After molding and drying, the brick will be sintered in a kiln at 1500°C–1600°C. It’s also called silicate-bonded magnesia-chrome bricks.
Features: Low cost and mature process. Sintered magnesia chrome brick is suitable for secondary areas with less demanding requirements regarding thermal load and slag erosion.
Direct Bonded Magnesia Chrome Brick
Main Materials: 95%-97% MgO, Chromite;
Process: Sintered at high temperatures in a kiln at over 1700°C. Through this high-temperature sintering, magnesite and chromite grains become directly bonded.
Features: Good strength at high temp and superior resistance to thermal shock. This bricks are suitable for applications involving significant temperature fluctuations and frequent thermal shock.
Fused Rebonded Magnesia Chrome Brick
Main Materials: Fused magnesia and chromite.
Process: Melting the magnesia and chromite in an electric arc furnace. Then crush, mix and subject them to high-temperature sintering kiln. This process allows for the maximum preservation of the raw material purity.
Features: Dense structure with high resistance to slag erosion and penetration. It’s suitable for areas subject to severe slag attack.
Chemical Bonded Magnesia Chrome Brick
Main Materials: MgO, chrome, and chemical bonding agents.
Process: Magnesia and chrome are shaped and dried at low temperatures, then solidified using chemical bonding agents; the bricks do not undergo high-temperature sintering.
Features: Ideal for cases where high-temperature performance requirements are less stringent or where rapid delivery of custom-shaped magnesia-chrome bricks is necessary.
Main Application of Magnesia Chrome Bricks
Magnesia chrome bricks are used in the most demanding zones of furnaces in the steel and metallurgical industries. These zones face high temperatures, slag attack, chemical reactions and sudden temperature changes at the same time. The mag chrome bricks are made from magnesia and chromite. Therefore, the basic composition and spinel based structure give them good resistance to slag erosion and stable performance at high temperature.
