Applications of Magnesia Alumina Spinel Bricks

Cement Industry

Rotary Kiln: Upper/lower transition zones, decomposition zone, and cooling zone (resistant to thermal shock and alkali attack).

Steel Industry

Refining Ladle: Sidewall, bottom, and impact zone (resistant to slag corrosion and steel wash).
RH Degasser: Lower vessel and non-slag line linings.

Glass Industry

Regenerator: Upper and middle checkerwork (resistant to alkali vapors and thermal cycling).

Non-Ferrous & Waste Management

Copper/nickel smelting furnaces and hazardous waste incinerators.

Slight Color Differences Do Not Affect Brick Performance

While these visual variations occur naturally during magnesia spinel brick production, they are purely aesthetic and do not impact structural integrity. As long as physical and chemical properties meet quality standards, the bricks will deliver full service life and peak performance in your furnace.

Raw Material Impurities
Magnesia alumina spinel bricks are naturally light (off-white, light grey, light yellow-brown). Iron or titanium impurities cause minor color shifts. Higher purity gives a whiter color.
Magnesia-iron spinel bricks are naturally dark (dark brown, near-black). Iron is added on purpose. This gives them a deep brown or black color.

Kiln Atmosphere
Oxygen-rich firing: iron turns reddish-brown or yellow-brown.
Oxygen-poor firing: iron turns dark grey, green-brown, or black-brown.
Thick bricks may have a darker inside. This is called “black core.”

Firing Temperature & Time
Higher heat (1800°C) and longer firing improve crystal growth.
Small temperature differences in the kiln cause slight surface shade changes.

FAQs of Magnesia Spinel Brick

Q: What Is the Main Use of Magnesia Spinel Brick?

A: Spinel refractory is mainly used in cement rotary kilns, steel refining ladles, and glass tank regenerators. They replace traditional, toxic Mag-Chrome bricks.

Q: Are Your Magnesia Spinel Brick 100% Chrome-Free and Eco-Friendly?

A: Yes. Our bricks are completely chrome-free. They generate zero toxic Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+) during high-temperature operations.

Q: What Is the Maximum Service Temperature for Your Magnesia Spinel Brick?

A: They can withstand working temperatures up to 1700- 1750°C with excellent refractoriness under load.

Q: Do You Support Custom Brick Dimensions and Drawings?

A: Yes. We manufacture custom shapes, VDZ standard sizes, and ISO sizes according to your technical drawings.

Q: Can I Request Third-Party Quality Inspection Before Shipment?

A: Yes. We support random sampling and quality testing by international agencies like SGS and BV.

Q: What Is Your Standard Packaging for Export Shipping?

A: We use ocean-worthy wooden pallets, plastic shrink wrap, steel strapping, and corner protectors. We also support custom logos and shipping marks.

Q: What Is the Average Production Lead Time for an Order?

A: Standard order production usually takes 15 to 30 days depending on quantity and shape complexity.

Q: What Key Precautions Should Be Taken When Using Magnesia Spinel Brick?

Keep bricks completely dry during installation. Avoid rapid heating or cooling rates during furnace startup. Ensure tight, even masonry joints to prevent molten slag penetration.

Q: How Should Magnesia Spinel Brick Be Stored Properly?

Store them in a dry, well-ventilated indoor warehouse. Place pallets on flat ground away from rain and moisture. Do not stack pallets too high to avoid package damage.
